Need to delete your yaNkap account? We understand that circumstances change. This page will guide you through the account deletion process and help you understand what happens to your data.
Before You Delete Your Account
Important: Account Deletion is Permanent
Please note that deleting your account is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to:
- Access your transaction history
- Recover your account or data
- Use the same phone number to register a new account (for a certain period)
Before proceeding, please ensure:
- Zero Balance: Your wallet balance must be 0 XAF. Transfer or withdraw all funds before deletion.
- No Pending Transactions: Complete or cancel all pending transactions.
- No Outstanding Bills: Ensure all bills and payments are settled.
- Download Records: Export your transaction history if you need it for tax or record-keeping purposes.
- Cancel Subscriptions: Cancel any recurring payments or subscriptions linked to your account.
How to Delete Your Account
There are two ways to delete your yaNkap account:
Option 1: Delete Through the Mobile App
- Open the yaNkap app on your mobile device
- Go to Settings
- Tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) in the top-left corner
- Select "Settings" from the menu
- Navigate to Account Settings
- Scroll down to "Account" section
- Tap "Account Management"
- Select Delete Account
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Tap "Delete My Account"
- Verify Your Identity
- Enter your PIN or use biometric authentication
- Enter the verification code sent to your registered phone number
- Confirm Deletion
- Review the deletion warning
- Type "DELETE" in the confirmation field
- Tap "Permanently Delete Account"
Option 2: Request Deletion via Customer Support
If you're unable to delete your account through the app, you can request deletion by contacting our support team:

Please include the following in your request:
- Your full name as registered on the account
- Your registered phone number
- Your account email address
- Reason for deletion (optional but helps us improve)
- Confirmation that your wallet balance is 0 XAF
Processing Time: Account deletion requests are typically processed within 3-5 business days. You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been deleted.
What Happens After Deletion
Immediate Effects
- Account Access: You will immediately lose access to your yaNkap account
- App Functionality: You will be logged out and unable to log back in
- Services Terminated: All yaNkap services will be terminated
- Payment Methods: All linked bank accounts and cards will be disconnected
Data Deletion Timeline
Your data will be deleted according to the following schedule:
- Personal Information: Deleted within 30 days
- Profile and Preferences: Deleted within 30 days
- App Usage Data: Anonymized within 90 days
Data We Must Retain (Legal Requirements)
For legal and regulatory compliance, we are required to retain certain information even after account deletion:
- Transaction Records: Retained for 10 years (AML/CFT compliance requirements)
- KYC Documents: Retained for 7 years (regulatory requirements)
- Fraud Prevention Data: Retained for 5 years (security purposes)
- Legal Records: Any data related to disputes, investigations, or legal matters

Alternatives to Deletion
If you're considering account deletion, you might want to consider these alternatives:
Temporary Deactivation
Instead of permanently deleting your account, you can temporarily deactivate it:
- Your account and data remain intact
- You cannot make transactions during deactivation
- You can reactivate anytime by logging back in
- Your transaction history is preserved
To deactivate: Settings > Account Management > Deactivate Account
Adjust Privacy Settings
If privacy is your concern, you can:
- Disable marketing communications
- Turn off location tracking
- Limit data collection in app settings
- Make your profile private
Contact Support
If you're experiencing issues with your account, our support team may be able to help without requiring account deletion.
Reactivating a Deleted Account
Important: Once your account is deleted, it cannot be reactivated or restored. If you want to use yaNkap again, you will need to:
- Create a new account from scratch
- Complete the KYC verification process again
- You may need to wait 90 days before using the same phone number
- All previous transaction history will be permanently lost
After Account Deletion
Using yaNkap Services Again
If you change your mind after deleting your account:
- You can create a new account using a different phone number immediately
- To use the same phone number, you may need to wait 90 days
- You will need to complete the full registration and KYC process
- Your previous transaction history cannot be recovered
- Any promotional credits or rewards from your old account will not be transferred
Outstanding Issues
Please note:
- Pending Disputes: Account deletion does not resolve pending disputes or claims
- Legal Matters: Deletion does not affect any legal obligations or proceedings
- Third-Party Services: You must separately cancel any subscriptions with third-party services
Data Portability
Before deleting your account, you can request a copy of your data:
- Transaction History: Export as CSV or PDF from the app
- Account Data: Request via email to privacy@yankap.cm
- Processing Time: Data exports are typically provided within 14 days
To export your data in the app:
- Go to Settings > Account Management
- Select "Download My Data"
- Choose the data types you want
- Select format (PDF or CSV)
- Tap "Request Export"
- You'll receive a download link via email within 24 hours
